Are there any expats here that own property in Italy? What's the best way to go about getting the Codice Fiscale (fiscal code) that they require?

    if you have permesso di soggiorno you can apply without any problems for the codice fiscale. You get it right away and then month later youll receive an official document.

      It turned out to be very easy, the real estate agent took us to the tax office and about 30 minutes later I had it. I also heard that just buying a cell phone in Italy gets you one as well.

        Yeh, the codice fiscale is one of the easier things to get, and very useful too. Italians seem to ask for it for everything - household bills to internet shopping purchases. I guess they like to make it easy for you to pay tax!
